Rice bran wax is an edible alternative to carnauba wax, often used in various applications due to its high melting point. It’s commonly found in paper coatings, textiles, explosives, coatings for fruits and vegetables, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, candles, molded novelties, electrical insulation, textile and leather sizing, waterproofing, carbon paper, typewriter ribbons, printing inks, lubricants, crayons, adhesives, chewing gum, green energy, and cosmetics.

In cosmetics, rice bran wax functions as an emollient and is the main ingredient in some exfoliating particles. Research shows that rice bran wax, even at concentrations as low as 1% in triglycerides, can crystallize and form stable gels.
